#1 Billboard Recording Artist Jason Walker continues to show growth and versatility with new "Unplugged" E.P.
Two time IDMA Nominee Jason Walker first burst on to the scene in 2004 partnered with world renowned DJ/Producer Junior Vasquez. Jason released 2 full-length albums with Junior and his then JVM label, "This Is My Life" and "Flexible". Both albums combined, he attained 6 Top 40 Billboard Dance singles, including two #1's and three other Top 10's. In 2009 Walker saw the release of the IDMA Nominated world-wide club hit "Can't Stop" with friend and DJ/Producer extraordinaire Quentin Harris on the Strictly Rhythm Records label. The collaboration gave way to two others, "Circles" and "Home" that would be featured on Harris's next Strictly release, "Sacrifice" in 2010.
Fall of 2010 saw the release of Walker's first independent album, "Leave It All Behind". While the album's title track yielded Jason his sixth Top 20 Billboard Dance single, Walker was really able to spread his wings musically, largely stepping away from the electronic music world by taking on new musical genres.
The new E.P. release, "Live and Unplugged, The 6th Ave. Sessions" continues to showcase Walker's vocal abilities, while at the same time acting as an extension of his last album release. Released on June 14, 2011,"Sessions" was recorded on a winter evening in NYC while rehearsing with friend, songwriting partner, and pianist Rami Ramirez.
Walker explains, "Rami and I were at a friends studio rehearsing for an upcoming show and happened to record a run through of our set. When we listened back, we thought it came out really well. So I let a couple of people hear it to gather opinions, and it was suggested to me that it sounded more like an Unplugged recording rather than a rehearsal and I should release it. I was skeptical, but after giving it some thought, I said, Why not? I thought that my fans would appreciate a recording like it, something stripped down, bare, and completely real". "I also decided to sell it at a reduced price. I thought it would be a nice way to say thank you for all of the support over the past couple of years.
The E.P. will contain four tracks from the album "Leave It All Behind" recorded live with only piano, "The Song In My Heart", "I Love You", "Leave It All Behind", and "Sad Eyes", and the song "I am Changing" recorded live with full instrumentation.
Jason continues, "The response that I've received from the music on "Leave It All Behind" has been totally overwhelming and beautiful. My thought process while putting the album together was to let every song tell it's story........so releasing something like this E.P. seemed like a no-brainer". show less -
