Toy Soldiers is a Philadelphia based Rock N' Roll band started in 2007 as a duo lead by singer and songwriter Ron Gallo. Their first record, "Whisper Down the Lane" was released in 2009 and marked the beginning of the "Big-Band Era", where Gallo was joined by upwards of 11 musicians at times. After a disastrous tour in 2010, the entire band crumbled and was reformed in October 2010 with four Lancaster, PA musicians; Dominic Billett (drums), Matt Kelly (guitar), Bill McCloskey(bass) and Luke Leidy(keys), who debuted at the 2010 CMJ Festival. Since then the band has recorded two EP's, "Get Through the Time" (Ropeadope Records) and "Midweek Mountain Getaway", which is a split EP done in Nashville with friend/singer-songwriter, Jordan Hull and won an Independent Music Award for "Best Blues Song" for "Throw Me Down".
They played over 120 shows in 2011, across the east coast and south, including a sold-out show at World Cafe Live with Fitz and the Tantrums and kicking off the first annual WHYY Connections Festival along with Dr. Dog and Justin Townes Earle.
The band is entering the studio to make their second full-length record in January 2012 with Philadelphia based Engineer/Producer, Bill Moriarty and will be embarking on a month-long tour in March including dates at South by Southwest.
