For nearly six years, soul-singing, songwriting sisters Rebecca and Megan Lovell of Larkin Poe have been captivating audiences around the world with their insightful lyrics, magnetic presence, and dazzling instrumental virtuosity. NoDepression.com says: "Larkin Poe brings together emotional expressiveness, beautiful melodies, technical mastery, and tasteful restraint in a way that's tremendously compelling." From the stage of the Grand Ole Opry to the hippy-fest Bonnaroo, these chameleon performers continue to impress and mature, attracting attention from music lover and celebrity alike. In the words of Elvis Costello, they are "already gifted as instrumentalists and, having a head start on the rest of us with the unique power and beauty of sibling harmony in their vocal blend, their songwriting has leapt forward and now surprises and delights in equal measure." show less -

Cave Music. It's like House, but its more wild, more jagged, more free, more natural to live in.
Spawned from New York City's subways in 2010, busking trio Moon Hooch (Wenzl McGowen and Mike Wilbur on Saxophones, James Muschler on Drums) has developed a style of dance music all their own - Cave Music - a blend of house, dubstep, drum & bass, and elements of jazz. Moon Hooch creates frenzied foot-stomping bashes with just two saxophones, drums, and the occasional contrabass clarinet.
Their self-funded debut album, originally self-released and now distributed by Crowd Control Music, proves that you can do a lot with just three instruments! The tenor saxophones frequently feud like a roundtable debate of drunken philosophers, while Muschler's minimal drum kit screams, "shut up and dance!"
Like The Felice Brothers, Moon Hooch has cultivated a dedicated "underground" following by playing to thousands of subway passengers. Mike Doughty (Soul Coughing) took notice of the band's unique style while waiting for a train and invited them on a month long national tour in November 2011 as his supporting act. The band was also featured as the house band for the entire first season of Australian TV show "Hamish and Andy's Gap Year". The celebrity Australian radio & TV personalities flew the band out to headline a sold-out concert in Melbourne.
Moon Hooch has a residency at Brooklyn's famous Knitting Factory for the first half of 2012, and is embarking on a tour of the Northeast this spring. show less -

"The Kalob Griffin Band, a Philadelphia based group better known to their devoted fan base as 'KGB,' have a habit of providing listeners on and off stage with a unique, unforgettable, some would say addictive experience that's garnered them quite a reputation at home and on the road over the past two years.
A self-titled EP release got the Americana Rockers momentum in early 2010 leading up to this Summer 2012, where they'll be answering fans prayers with a full-length debut, "June Found A Gun" on their new Independent label, There He is Records.
Kalob Griffin (vocals/guitar), Rob Dwyer (guitar/mandolin/banjo), Eric Lawry (drums/vocals), John Hildenbrand (keyboards/vocals), and Nick Salcido (electric/upright bass) compose this troop of musicians who come together to create a sound and live show that is immediately original, familiar, and contagious.
Original and familiar? How, do you ask? Take a John Prine lyric, an Avett Brothers harmony, a Neil Young guitar solo, and an Allman Brothers Band concert, then mix and mash till your heart's desire. Now listen! The twelve-track "June", whose name is inspired by Kalobs great Aunt June, is a melting pot of various influences, aiming to broaden the landscape of the Americana genre and
get your feet moving!
Since creation, the band, whose touring repertoire includes over 150 shows and festival appearances, has not only created a name for themselves as fun-loving, uninhibited rock and rollers, but they have exhibited an artistic vision that is committed to being fan-centric and experience driven." show less -

Eich, Ike, & Scobie: Small World Tour
Once upon a time, singer/songwriters, Joy Ike (Pittsburgh), JD Eicher (Youngstown), and Kurt Scobie (Atlanta), were winding their way around the country, playing their music wherever they could. But they were lonely. Then one day, JD bumped into Kurt. Then another day, Kurt bumped into Joy. Then on another day after that one, JD bumped into Joy. Then one day they all realized that they all knew each other.
"Small world," they said in unison, and they made a pact to tour together and cure their loneliness.
Join JD, Kurt, and Joy, as they play their songs, tell their stories, make of fun of each other, and have a great time doing it. The variety of Kurt Scobie's catchy, percussive piano pop, Joy Ike's deep and soulful indie sound, and JD Eicher’s dynamic and honest songwriting make for a deliciously well-rounded meal. You should go (to the show). Seriously. show less -

THESE LIONS
Stemming from lead singer Anthony Jardine's solo project which received national attention in the pages of Gladys Magazine, These Lions has been taking the Pittsburgh music scene by storm. The Indie/Alternative/Rock band came together in April of 2010 with a force that is not seen by many local bands. Since the inception of the project, These Lions performed numerous shows in the greater Pittsburgh area, allowing them to gain great momentum and a loyal fan-base.
Anthony Jardine (vocals/lead guitar), Bryan Humphreys (bass guitar), Tim Mulhern (vocals/guitar), Pamela Pilipovich (cello) and David Rocco (drums) boast a unique sound that captivates audiences time and time again. These Lions draw their sound and influence from eclectic musicians like Jeff Buckley, Band of Horses, Yeasayer, Sigur Ros and even a number of classical composers.
In July 2011, the band formally released their debut record, "One," and is hard at work on their next record and a Summer 2012 East Coast Tour. The anticipation for the band and the record has been talked about among many Pittsburgh publications and other media outlets. These Lions' sound is one that takes the listener through an emotional adventure that resonates with each person on different levels. Pilipovich, who has been classically trained on cello, allows the band to experiment with different classical infusions that most bands are not able to offer.
These talented musicians have been named "the band to watch in 2011 and 2012" by Pittsburgh's music critics, and they are certainly making waves in the city they call home. Prepare to enter the lion's den, as you let These Lions take the lead on a most exciting musical experience. show less -

On Gene the Werewolf's second studio album, "Wicked Love", the Pittsburgh rockers rev into a higher gear. Due out November 29th, 2011, Wicked Love sees the quintet bring their gritty pure-rock roots to the forefront. Gene explains, "Most of my former self was left behind on the band's debut 'Light Me Up,'" while speaking of the pop infused Rock N' Roll that crafted the aforementioned record. When referring to the band's newest album, Gene exclaims, "It's the perfect soundtrack to a beer-infused Saturday night!" The first single, "I Only Wanna Rock N' Roll", exemplifies what Gene had to say about his latest album. "The track sounds as caustic as my new look", says Gene referring to sporting a dirty cut-off jean jacket and ass-kicking boots rather than his sheik 70s inspired white suit. However, there's more to this album than just a change in scenery.
In May of 2009, Gene The Werewolf recorded their first EP "Light Me Up" at Innovation Studios in Steubenville, OH with producer Jamie Woolford (The Gin Blossoms, The Format, The A.K.A.'s). In June of 2011, the boys again decided to enlist the help of Woolford on their second release, and first full-length album, "Wicked Love". The idea this time was to fly to Phoenix, AZ for 3 weeks to record the album at STEM Recording Studio to try something new, and focus strictly on the music, with no distractions. The band also flew out, studio engineer, and Gene's touring guitarist, Mike Ofca to round out the team that made the 2009 album such a success. "The process this time was great", says Gene. "I couldn't be happier with how the album turned or how the recording really reflects the evolution of Gene that we were going for".
Another noteworthy aspect about the release of "Wicked Love" is that the band plans to give the album away for free! "Giving this record away for free was something that was incredibly important to us from the start of the writing process. We know that we are at the top of our game right now and people need to hear that," says guitarist Drew Donegan. "The band has done the proverbial dance with managers, potential labels, booking agents, etc. Making money isn't why any of us got involved with music when we were younger. At the end of the day, we play absurdly loud, sweat our asses off, and then sleep on filthy apartment floors together because we are friends and love doing it, not to become the world's next rock star or to make money from it."
Ultimately, the band's intentions are as pure as they've ever been. "We formed this band to play loud, rowdy, and crude Rock N' Roll," says Gene. "I think with this record we've accomplished everything we've ever wanted out of being in a band together."
Since the release of the bands debut "Light Me Up", Gene The Werewolf have been featured in various national and local publications including Spin Magazine, Pittsburgh Post Gazette, Tribune Review, Pittsburgh City Paper, and more. Gene was on SPIN magazine's Top 15 "Songs You Must Hear Now" in November 2009, and #2 on The Daily News "Best of 2009" list. The band has also enjoyed local and regional airplay along with frequent in-studio performances on 102.5 WDVE and 105.9 WXDX in Pittsburgh.
Late in 2010 Gene had the idea to cover a version of the 1978 local classic "Steelers Fight Song". Gene's version, named "Steelers Polka", went viral during the football season and received over 340,000 views on YouTube along with airplay from local and national radio. Check out Gene The Werewolf at: genethewerewolf.com
In 2012, Gene's new single "I Only Wanna Rock N Roll" was added to full rotation to Pittsburgh's biggest radio staion 102.5 WDVE! It reached the "#1 most played song" on the station for 3 weeks in a row, beating out the Foo Fighters and Nickelback.
